Last Friday, June 16, during the RITMO23 National Congress, the Chief of the Cardiology Department of the Dr. Balmis Hospital in Alicante (Dr. Juan Gabriel Martínez), received one of the 2 National Grants to carry out the TEMPACE study. The purpose of the research is to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of KronoSafe® in Temporary Cardiac Pacing.

The Spanish Heart Rhythm Association, through “Fundación La Casa del Corazón”, have awarded 2 grants of €20,000 to carry out research projects related to heart rhythm. This recognition values “the quality of the project, its originality, its feasibility and the future applications of the results in the field of cardiology”.

KronoSafe® is an adapter for temporary cardiac stimulation with active fixation leads, improving the safety and effectiveness of the therapy. This system is the first medical device from the ICU Medical Technologies company, which aims to develop medical devices that increase patient safety. Currently in the process of a Seed investment round, with the aim of reaching European commercialization in the short term (Time to Market 6-8 months)

After the favorable results of the first study published in the European Heart Journal – ACC, TEMPACE expands the sample through a multicenter study in which the Vall d’Hebrón Hospital in Barcelona and the Dr. Balmis General Hospital in Alicante participate. Among the expected benefits of performing Temporary Cardiac Pacing with systems such as KronoSafe®, highlight a significant reduction in complications, reduction in ICU stays, early rehabilitation during hospitalization; and all of this will also reduce direct and indirect healthcare costs, favoring the sustainability of the systems.
